This past Sunday (July 10th) was Carl Orff's 116th birthday. You may not recognize Carl Orff's name, but I'll bet that you'll recognize one of his most famous works: O Fortuna from Carmina Burana; it has been used in lots movies and commercials as a backdrop for dramatic events. Carl Orff took the medieval poem O Fortuna and set it to music, and, apparently, it has been listed as one of the most played pieces of classical music in the United Kingdom.
